What in the world possesses us to remove our bottoms in front of a stranger, have hot wax smoothed over our most sensitive area and have it ripped off a few seconds later in excruciating pain, all by nothing more than our own personal desire to get a Brazilian wax?

Everyone has a different reason for why they get a Brazilian wax (convenience, less irritation than shaving, etc) but what’s the real process and the difference between a bikini wax and Brazilian wax. For some of the timid out there, let’s fill you in on the process.

1) Your friendly and licensed esthetician will allow you to dress out of your clothes

in a private room. She will most likely give you something to wear or drape over yourself so you are not sitting and waiting uncomfortably.
2) The esthetician will apply some sort of product, like oil or talcum powder, to the skin so the wax will remove hair – not layers of skin. Note: If the hair is longer than ¼ inch, expect you esthetician to trim the hair down so it is easier to wax.
3) Now the fun part starts. Hot wax is smoothed over a section of hair to be removed and allowed to cool for a few seconds. There are different types of wax popular for a Brazilian: strip and hard wax. Strip wax is what is used, for the most part, for eyebrow waxing and also used in that infamous waxing scene of the hit movie 40-Year-Old Virgin. Hard wax, on the other hand, hardens without the need of a strip and is pulled off when it has cooled enough to change from a liquid form to a solid (this is Chemistry at its best!). Many people prefer hard wax to strip wax but it is a personal preference. You may want to ask when you make an appointment what type of wax will be used for your own knowledge before you go in.
4) The removal: The strip/wax is pulled in the direction opposite of the hair growth in one swift, pain-free motion… Ok, so maybe not pain-free but won’t it look and feel nice when you’re done? Some people say to take an aspirin 30 to 60 minutes before to handle the pain, but you can live without it. Really, it’s not too bad.
5) This process is continued until you are as smooth as a baby’s bottom from front to back. Note: It is very important that you make a note if the esthetician is double-dipping their stick. This is very unsanitary and can cause many bacterial infections.
6) Tweezers are used to remove any hairs that tried to escape the goopy wax. Some think this is the most tedious and painful part so beware.
7) Finally, soothing lotion or oil is applied to help with redness, irritation and ingrown hairs… Whew! So that’s it! You’re done.
I know it might not have been fun, but it’s like going to the gynecologist: You are forced by yourself to go and afterward, even though you hated it, you are glad you went for your personal well-being. Plus you only have to go back every 3 to 4 weeks.
Now I know you’re wondering the difference between a Brazilian wax and a bikini. Well, the Brazilian has a few options. You can have your esthetician remove everything from everywhere, or they can leave what many call a “landing strip” or a little vertical strip of hair in the front which will be trimmed. Estheticians can get creative by giving the remaining hair a design, such as a heart. A bikini wax, however, removes hair that follows the panty line. According to some estheticians, once you go past a certain point in the front it is considered a Brazilian so you may want to ask your particular esthetician where their boundaries are.
You are now a well-educated, informed individual about Brazilian waxing so go out and have fun getting waxed! And remember to thank your esthetician no matter how painful the session is – they are just doing their job.

Genital hair removal for men involves the removal of hair from the penis and scrotum. For women, this refers to the removal of hair from the labia majora, labia minora and clitoral hood. The process of removing genital hair requires fastidious care because the genital area has an unlevel surface and thinner skin. Consequently, some of the normal hair removal methods you use on your pubic area may not be very appropriate for removing genital hair.

Genital Waxing

Waxing the genitals for women should not be a problem as waxing works relatively fine on the female genitalia. Men do not have it the easy way with waxing because not many waxing professionals are willing to wax scrotums. The problem with the scrotum is that the skin there is too loose. During the pulling off of the wax, the skin on the scrotum tends to stretch drastically, which creates a lot of pain. Hair on the scrotum is usually coarser, which makes it even harder to remove with waxing.

To further complicate things for men, most waxing professionals are women. While some men certainly do not mind a woman handling their sexual organs, others may not like the idea of having a man performing the job and some men want no one to touch them. If you prefer to wax your genitals yourself, you could purchase a home waxing kit. The main advantage of waxing is it removes the hair from the root, which lasts from 3 to 8 weeks before growing back. The hair growth process can be slowed down with special hair inhibitors to extend the effectiveness of waxing. The pain factor is what stops most people from waxing but if you think you can handle it, then go for it!

Laser Genital Hair Removal

This is probably the best permanent genital hair removal method out there but it can be very uneconomical. It can take between 4 to 8 laser hair removal sessions, each of which will cost $150 or more. Moreover, you will have to be willing to “bare all” in front of a stranger for quite some time.

How To Safely Remove Genital Hair

When it comes to removing genital hair, it is important that your chosen method is both gentle and safe enough for the delicate skin of your genitals. The most common way of removing hair on the genitals is by shaving with the current razors you possess because it is economical, convenient and quick. However, the use of normal razors may lead to nicks and bumps on the genitals causing pain, infections and itchiness. Razor blades and depilatory creams that were not designed for contact with the genitals are unsuitable for genital hair removal. If you are open about invest a bit more cash, you might want to consider getting safer alternatives like waxing, pubic shavers, laser genital hair removal and plucking with tweezers.

Genital Hair Removers

If you prefer to remove genital hair by shaving, the best way is an electric pubic shaver, which will rule out the risk of hurting yourself and the other drawbacks associated with shaving with a razor. These pubic shavers usually look like mini men’s beard shavers with a rotary foil at the top. You will be required to trim the hair you want to shave till it is very short in length to enable these pubic shavers to work. Due to the fact that shaving does not remove hair from the root, you may experience ingrown hairs when they start to grow out if you do not apply special after-shave sprays to prevent the new hair from growing sideways. Lastly, shaving requires a lot of maintenance because hair grows back in just a few days.

Genital Hair Removal Depilatory Creams

Even though there are hair removal creams for the face, legs and pubic area, there aren’t any hair removal creams (as far as I know) that claim to be mild enough for the genitalia.

Conclusion

I tried to cover the various means of removing genital hair as precisely and truthfully as I could. As you can see, there is no faultless solution to remove genital hair. You will need to conscientiously select which solution suits you best based on your budget, time constraints and personal preferences.

Public shaving is absolutely required for anyone wearing a bikini on the beaches or at the pools. With public shaving, you can get rid of the course, dark, unattractive hair that invades the bikini line and bring you a lot of humiliation.

It is known that most men and women would rather deal with pubic shaving for a smooth, sexy overall look. Pubic shaving has become more and more popular these days, as bikinis are becoming more and more mainstream. There are several different products that can make pubic shaving easy and safe for women. These come in all kinds of shapes, with a cord, without a cord, manual, electric, and some that have many other features.

There are some devices for pubic shaving that have a rotary head that lets the shaver move on its axis to hit the hard to reach trouble spots. These pubic shaving devices are electric, and the great thing about these is that they are rechargeable, so you dont have to worry about the power dying while you are doing your pubic shaving. Using a rotary head also cuts down the risk of irritation and ingrown hairs.

Another great helper for pubic shaving is a shaver that is battery powered. The head has a small diameter to fit into the tough places. Look for a pubic shaving device that has a definitive curve to the head of the device, not a flat one. Your pubic area is not flat, so dont subject it to a flat shaver!

There are some great products for pubic shaving that are not only battery operated, but are palm sized, too. These smaller shavers are easy to take with you to places, without having to change to a bigger purse. Some of these small shavers have double edged heads, meaning one side is flat, for different surfaces, and one side is curved, making pubic shaving a personally customized experience.

Some of the devices used for pubic shaving are manual, of course, like the good old fashioned razor. It is always important to use special shaving oil if you can, to reduce friction, itching, and irritation afterwards. Some people shave right down to the skin, smoothing away any traces of hair when they do their pubic shaving. Others trim the hair, and even form it into some shape, like a landing strip or a heart.

Whatever your preferences are when you are pubic shaving, make sure you follow directions, and feel free to try different shavers and products. With the large variety of shavers available, there is sure to be one for pubic shaving that is perfect for you!
